The streets of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban will be buzzing with pink excitement on National Women’s Day (Tuesday 09 August 2022) when thousands of runners and walkers show solidarity by being part of SA’s largest Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race in support of PinkDrive.
PinkDrive is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) that is committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and offering free breast health services to the medically uninsured across South Africa.
“The Totalsports Women’s Race is an amazing initiative that celebrates women in a fun and interactive way,” says Tenielle Karen, PinkDrive Western Cape Marketing and Events Co-Ordinator. “The pandemic has impacted the lives of so many and to have the Totalsports Women’s Race making a comeback in 2022 brings hope that things are slowly but surely returning to normality. The opportunity to be the official charity of the Totalsports Women’s Race will assist us with resources in mobilising our Cancer Screening Services and offering medical assistance to men and women who are not medically insured. Our message to entrants is to never give up, especially when fighting for what you believe in. Choose life and walk in Hope daily.”
According to Nelius du Preez, PinkDrive National Marketing and Events Co-Ordinator, it’s amazing to be part of an event that is hosted in honour of women. “Hosting the event in three different cities on the same day shows unity and that Totalsports and PinkDrive stand together for the health and support of Women. The fundraising opportunity and platform offered by the Totalsports Women’s Race ensures that our service continues benefitting communities across South Africa, while the funds raised assists us to achieve our cardinal purpose which is to contribute meaningfully towards preventing as many people as we can, from succumbing to breast, cervical, prostate, and testicular cancer. We would like to thank all entrants for their commitment and support towards PinkDrive.”
“We love the Totalsports Women’s Race,” says Janice Benecke, PinkDrive Marketing and Events Co-Ordinator for KZN. “We often get calls from residents wanting to know when the event will take place again. They refer to it as ‘The Pink Race’. I was so pleased to be able to let everyone know that it is back in 2022. It means the world to be the official charity of choice because it allows us to continue with our services to the medically uninsured. The event brings a sense of normality back to the people, especially in KZN, with Covid, looting and the devasting floods that we have had to endure. The Totaslports Women’s Race is a wonderful way to celebrate Women’s Day, bringing people together to honour women in three cities.”
PinkDrive will be present at the Totalsports Women’s Race in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban offering FREE clinical breast examinations and educating on the importance of self-breast examinations.
